IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa sophomore gymnast Tesla Cox has been named second team All-Big Ten.  The announcement came today from the Big Ten office.

Cox competed on bars and beam in every meet this season, and on vault in all but one competition.  The Greenville, S.C., native recorded a season best score of 9.850 vs. LSU on March 9, only to top that mark with a career best 9.900 on March 3 vs. Texas Woman’s University, BYU and Southeast Missouri State.  Her 9.900 was good enough to win the event title on bars.

Cox has registered season highs of 9.900 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 9.825 on vault.

According to troester.com GymInfo rankings, Cox is ranked third in the North Central region and tied for 38th in the NCAA on bars.  She is also ranked 20th in the North Central region on beam and 26th on vault.

The Big Ten also released seedings for the upcoming Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships, held in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on March 24.  The top four seeds in the conference will compete at 6:05 (CT), while seeds 4-8 will kick off the event at 1:05 p.m. (CT).  Iowa will be competing in the first session at 1:05 p.m.  Both sessions will be televised live on BTN (HD).
