We had a great time this past weekend at Jewelry By Harold.  Harold Van Beek held a party at his store and it featured authentic Dutch food and desserts.  (YUM!)

David Johnson (a Democrat running for the State House) was in attendance and he talked about the importance of education.  I was surprised to learn just how many Iowans are employed by our three major universities and community colleges.

We have been giving away tickets to the Iowa State Fair all week and tomorrow is the big day when we will give away Journey tickets all morning long.

I snagged a few Demolition Derby tickets for my family.  Something about cars smashing into each other brings out the kid in me.  I don't know who will be more excited to go - Me or Jack?

It's been a while since I contributed to the blog but today I was inspired to share some listener feedback with you.

Over the past two weeks I have received several e-mails and thank you notes from listeners and a number of them thanked me for being so 'positive' during the morning show.  I am always grateful and humbled to hear from our listeners but it also made me think about why people felt the need to thank me for something that I feel should be much more common.  Are we really at the point in society where being positive is something rare enough to thank someone for it?

I can assure you that my positive attitude is not an act.  I just figure that life is too short to be angry all the time.

I have to admit that I am not positive all of the time --- Just ask me for my take on health insurance or the health care system in general. 

I am positive that you will tell me to shut up after 10 minutes of ranting.
