Last night Peyton Manning did his best Tecmo Bowl impression with 7 touchdown passes and it really psyched me up for NFL action. (...it doesn't hurt that he is starting on my fantasy football team... :)
This time of year is special. Major League Baseball is coming down the homestretch, College and NFL games fill our weekends, and basketball is just around the corner.
I am going to go out on a limb a bit this year with my NFL Super Bowl pick. (at least in the NFC)
I like the Detroit Lions from the NFC and the Denver Broncos from the AFC. I think Reggie Bush will be a key addition to the high powered Lions offense and I think Detroit's defense will be just good enough to keep them in games. The Stafford to Megatron connection is one of the most dangerous combos of all time. In the AFC, I feel Peyton Manning has at least one more Super Bowl appearance in his future. Denver has a clear path to the playoffs with Kansas City, Oakland, and San Diego in their division. The Broncos defense can be dominant at times and it will be at full strength later in the season. Manning will be filling up the stat sheet with connections to Welker and Demaryius Thomas.
Now the score -
Denver 31. Detroit 17
I'll check back in early February to see how wrong I am.
